RE: locking your hitch?

Masterlock hitch lock is always on hitch whether its coupled with tv or on its own. sucks to here stories of folks coming home or going to pick up their units at storage and finding them gone.

RE: stoping to sleep for 8 hours?

i have both turtled and opened bunks while still attached. it is both correct that you will want to level side-to-side for comfort, and that you probably will be unlevel front-to-back. that is unless your site has a slight slope up towards the back. then you just might get it level. utilizing both front and back stabilizers is a good thing. once i only deployed the back ones and found that the trailer still rocked just a bit due to the truck springs. as for deploying the front bunk - not everyone can do this, depending on the size of your bunk and how far from the bumper your hookup is. this would be something you just need to try to see. just be sure to get everything out of the back of your vehicle that you need for the night if it is enclosed. if you decide to turtle perhaps one person could sleep on the couch while one sleeps on the folded down dinette? another idea is since you have a slideout you could use one of those blowup pool rafts as a mattress on the floor for a quick bed-on-the-go. enjoy your trip

RE: Are we unreasonable? Recent Camping experience...

wow. after reading through this thread i found a common thought process; folks on all sides tend to get their dander up over a miscomunication. let me see if i can focus this here (just for my mind). the neighbors next to use and the four sites next to them all had young kids.. So do we.. Kids are kids and they get loud and have fun. But these kids all decided to climb into the tree right next to our dinette window. My wife was inside while I had my three (4, 11 and 12 years) rugrats outside. These kids were yelling and screaming, much louder than my own and my 11 year old boy is usually the loudest in any setting. . 1) neighbor's kids were climbing a tree that is just outside 'their' neighbor's camper window. in the process they were being kids enjoying life which includes being noisy. (if their is an adult out there who can honestly say they have never been irritated by a little noise they need to be elected for sainthood) My wife had a headache (ended up a migrane that is still present) and I politely asked one of the neighbors if they could have their kids get out of the tree as my wife was hurting and the kids were right at window level and less then 3 feet away. This time they politely obliged. 2) wife had migraine come on while on a family outing. (if she is willing to try to keep up so the rest of the family, including kids, can still have a good time, more power to her) Saturday afternoon, we return from a Scouting event that we had planned on attending and her headace was getting worse. The kids were in the tree again. I again asked one of the adults. He was polite, but when we heard him asking the kids to get out of the tree he said "the party poopers want you to get out of the tree". 3) imho this was an uncalled for statement by the other adult and seems to be where the miscommunication starts. Now I was raised (and I try to raise my kids) to respect others, their property and their campsites.. 4) respect. the loss of this seems to be a common thought now-a-days. Did I forget to mention that they were running through our camp? 5) did you ask these kids to please not go thru your campsite? I feel that maybe I am out of line 6) do you really? why would you? I think the kids should have been more in on of the common five sites that they had rather than the space between theirs and mine. 7) that seems like it would have been the logical place for them to be. If my kids are loud on the edge of our campsite i try to tell them to quiet down. We are not all perfect, 8) how true, we aren't all perfect but that doesn't mean we don't strive to be our best. I feel as though these parents were out of line... 9) please clarify this statement. i can presume that you mean their comment to the kids about the 'party pooper' but if i do that i may be misunderstanding. . . Comments both both negative and positive are welcome here... 10) are you sure? seems to me that you may have gotten a bit sensitive over some of the statements written here. i think i would have too. maybe next time you think you want opinions you might think twice about what opinions you might get. what's that saying? don't ask if you don't want to hear. now, after having said all that i have just one question more. WHAT THE H**L WERE THESE KIDS DOING CLIMBING THE TREES IN THE STATE PARK? THERE ARE LAWS STATING SPECIFICALLY TO NOT CLIMB THE TREES. THE STATE DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIABLE WHEN YOUR CHILD FALLS OUT AND BREAKS THEIR LITTLE ARM.

RE: some of my wintertime upgrades

i found cloth/wire bins @ Lowe's that fit perfectly in our modified wardrobe. (put shelves in) the bins are longer than the plastic ones which allows us to utilize all the shelf space. we just pull one out like a drawer to reach what's at the back.

as funny as it sounds, it really was the pizza pan. these cook differently than other pans. they are made for cooking pizza crusts; you know, crunchy-crusty on the bottom. . . :)

RE: Sleep Overs - Do You Allow

so what if 'other parents' are allowing this behavior in their home. when her name is on the mortgage, she is footing all the bills, and her parents are guests, she can do as she pleases. if she wants to be treated as an adult she needs to act like one and respect her parents territory of authority. as stated before, if they wish to spend 'intimate' time together, get a hotel room.
